  15. Hi,
  16. I recently bought a WANGTEK, 5525ES Tape backup unit but it didn't
  17. come with any documentation.
  18. My first question is relating to the jumpers.
  19.  
  20. I found one block of 4 jumpers on the drive, 3 of these set the scsi
  21. address, but I don't have a clue as to what the 4th jumper does.
  22. Also somewhere in the middle of the circuit board is another jumper,
  23. what is that for?

  25. Is it possible to get the documentation for the drive somewhere?

  27. With the drive I also received 5 DC6525 tapes which seem to
  28. work just fine. Now I got hold of a few DC6250 tapes and I stuck them
  29. into the drive and they work as well, which is good. But: It seems as
  30. if the drive works at only half the speed with the smaller capacity
  31. tapes. Why is this? and can it be changed? Also I read on the tapes
  32. that they are 1020 feet long, to my surprise the dc6525 tapes have the
  33. same length. Is there something written on the actual media that
  34. informs the tape drive as to what capacity the current tapes has?

  36. Now for the weirdest part: I'm actually running NetBSD on my Amiga and
  37. the tape works pretty well with both types of tapes. 
  38. Under AmigaDOS I have installed a tape handler called dtape: This
  39. handler kept crashing my machine when I tried to access the DC6525
  40. tapes for reading and writing. With the DC6250 tapes the handler works
  41. just perfect. What could cause that. Does the Drives documentation
  42. mention anything about incompatibilities with the tapes.

  44. I would really appreciate if someone could make the manuals available
  45. to me either electronically or (copies of) the originals. I will pay
  46. for all expenses and your trouble. Please email me if you wish to send
  47. me the manuals.
